#1 Can we have a copy of your contractor's license?

The State of Tennessee requires a home improvement or contractor's license in order to check bank accounts and to help reduce the chance of someone taking advantage of you.  Also check insurance to make sure you're protected from getting sued by one of their employees or subcontractors if they were to get hurt on your property. And to make sure that you are covered if damage is done to your property.

#2 Can we have a copy of your insurance?

Even though your fence contractor has a valid license, their insurance may renew at different times and can lapse, so it is always good to make sure their workman's comp and general liability insurance is current.

#3 Can we have a copy of your workmanship warranty?

Always check for workmanship warranties, and make sure you are also doing business with someone you trust to honor the workmanship warranty.
